Death Walks Into A Bar

A neo-noir short about a hitman whose final contract is Death himself — every frame, every performance, every line reading generated with Seedance 2.5.

About the film

Death Walks Into A Bar is a neo-noir short about a hitman whose final contract is Death himself. No actors. No set. No cameras — every frame, every performance, every line reading was generated with Dreamina Seedance 2.5.

What sold me on this model is the acting. Watch the faces, not the frames — the micro-expressions, the pauses, the line deliveries. This is the first time I stopped scanning for glitches and just watched the performances.

How it was made

Written and directed by Tim Simmons. The entire film was built inside Dreamina Seedance 2.5 from just three Midjourney character stills — about 15 generations total, and a budget that will make your line producer question reality. The workflow ran Omni Reference alongside first-frame image-to-video, leaned on the new 30-second generations, kept characters and voices consistent across shots, and patched bad takes with a screenshot trick instead of re-rolling. The finished cut was upscaled from 720p in Topaz.

The full breakdown — every prompt, the workflow shot by shot, the real cost (and what the same film would have run as a traditional shoot: $55K–$85K), plus an honest early review of where Seedance 2.5 shines and where it still gets weird — is in the making-of masterclass below.
